Cosmetic Dermatology Rotation Goals/ Objectives for PGY -4
Patient Care
Goal: To provide care for cosmetic dermatology patients that is caring, sensitive, and effective
in optimizing diagnosis, management, patient education and outcomes.
Objectives:

1. Consistently identify information and subtle clinical patterns to diagnose complex disorders.

2. Teach junior learners to accurately interpret laboratory and imaging test results, including the
   selection of tests that are evidence-based and cost-effective. PC6
3. Articulates the limitations and challenges of dermatopathologic correlation. PC1
4. Consistently integrate mental status, functional status, and psychosocial factors into care of
   common, uncommon, and complex patients. PC5
5. Usually able to select alternative or adjuvant treatment for patients with recalcitrant disease or
   significant side effects from therapy. PC8
6. Usually able to assess patients for invasive cosmetic procedures, such as laser resurfacing.

   Medical Knowledge
   Goal: To acquire knowledge in medical dermatology and develop expertise in patient
   management
   Objectives:
9. Consistently demonstrates comprehensive knowledge of the clinical and laboratory
   manifestations, expected course, and management options of common, uncommon, and complex
   dermatologic disorders. MK1
10. Consistently identifies and manages urgent dermatological conditions. MK1
11. Consistently demonstrates knowledge of the methodology and science associated with
    invasive cosmetic dermatologic procedures, such as laser resurfacing, hair transplantation, and

    knowledge to the care of cosmetic dermatology patients. MK1
